Websites
PortfolioWe specialize in website solutions that work—for your business, for your customers, across browsers, platforms, and devices from desktops to smart phones.
How a website is built is just as important as how it looks. At High Road we care deeply about creating websites that work well and look good.
Your brand is important! You've put effort into creating a business that stands out and that your customers can rely on and your website should reflect that not only in the way it looks but also in its reliability. You want your branding and image to shine through on your web site just like on all your marketing materials. You don't want it to look like your designer's brand, or worse, like it was drawn from the same template as so many of the sites on the web. We design for you and with you and help you focus on that branding consistency so your customers will always recognize your site, your e-mails, and all of your materials.
Having an active website with changing content is important to engaging your customers and generating regular traffic to your site and business. However, managing regular updates can be quite a chore. We can make changes to your site for you, give it a new look, or add functionality as needed. You can have monthly maintenance added to your monthly hosting charges or it can be priced separately by task.
Mobile Websites
It is also more and more important that your site look good and work well on mobile devices such as iPhones. You may also want a site targeted directly to mobile users.
Whether you have a mobile specific site or not your main web site should be adapted to function well, or at least reasonably, on any smart/mobile device (iPhone, Droid, Blackberry, iPad etc.) If a mobile user can not see or navigate your site you have lost a potential customer.
It is very frustrating for a mobile user to go to a site and find it doesn't work, can't be navigated or, worse, that most of the content is invisible on their mobile device. There are many ways your main site can avoid producing a bad experience for mobile users.
Among the most common problems is Flash content. iOS devices (iPhones, iPods & iPads) and many other smart devices don't run Flash so any Flash content can't be seen on over 150 million iOS devices as of the beginning of 2011. That number is growing rapidly. That is a lot of potential customers you don't want to eliminate by using Flash. Also, Google does not index Flash content so you hurt yourself in the search engine rankings on your site anyway. There are plenty of good alternatives.
You can see here on the left a comparison of a site that has not been adapted. On the screen capture from an iPhone the site is clearly broken with Flash content just missing. What content is there is practically impossible to read. What you can't see is that none of the menus work.
In the images of a site that has been adapted by High Road on the right you can see image content does appear and the text and menus are readable. On this site all menus and scrolling work regardless of if you are on a mobile device or a desktop.

You may also want a mobile specific site to go along with your main site. You can see in the image of High Road's mobile site that the pages are well laid out to be readable on the mobile device. Content and navigation are simple.
Your adapted site and your mobile site should work as a team providing users the content they want or need on a mobile site and a way to get a fuller, richer experince on a desktop and on the mobile device too if they chose.
